$50,000 TO SUPPORT THE WELLBEING OF LOCAL VETERANS

Increasing the wellbeing of our veteran community is a key focus of the Albanese government following the findings of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

Local veterans and families of veterans will benefit from a new $50,000 investment into the Bicton Palmyra RSL Sub-Branch that will develop the Bicton-Fremantle RSL Community Garden and Family Play Space for Veteran Wellbeing.

The funding is part of a new $3.5 million investment from the Albanese government into 65 veteran wellbeing programs in local communities across the country, offering everything from ballet lessons to social connection and homelessness support.

The investment comes from the Veteran Wellbeing Grants Program, which is there to strengthen social connection, improve mental wellbeing and help families access support earlier, building a stronger and more connected veteran community across Australia.

Applications for the next round will open later this year.
